Ranch Background

Rocky Flats Ranch is a registered Angus and Scottish Highland operation in Longmont, Colorado. The ranch began over 20 years ago in the Angus and Limousin breeds. We wanted to focus more on producing better beef using superior genetics. For that reason, Rocky Flats Ranch purchased new registered Angus genetics to build a new baseline for the herd.

Family is the focus of Rocky Flats Ranch, with family members currently helping on the ranch part-time with the long-term goal of being full-time. All the family members grew up in Colorado and have deep ties in agriculture.

Ranch Goals

Utilizing prime genetics in both the Angus herd and the Scottish fold gives Rocky Flats Ranch a unique opportunity to market beef directly to consumers in the future.

Land conservation is another goal of Rock Flats Ranch; they utilize both breeds of cattle to accomplish that. Both the registered Angus herd and the Scottish Highland fold are rotationally grazed to keep the grass healthier and reduce wildfire risk by decreasing small trees and brush.
